Family Life Forum 2016

The Ghras Association for Community Development organized the First Prisoners’ Life Forum in Istanbul, Turkey, under the slogan “Turning Point.” The event was attended by 500 participants from 36 countries across the Arab world, Asia, Europe, Africa, and South America, represented by organizations specializing in family and women’s affairs, charitable associations, and international and UN bodies. The forum was held under the patronage and presence of the Turkish Ministry of Family and Social Affairs and the Lebanese–Turkish Relations Council in the Turkish Parliament. The forum included panel discussions and workshops that addressed the needs of families and the challenges they face in times of conflict, war, and stability, as well as the legal protection of families. It also presented case studies and lived experiences of families and women breadwinners. Participants further reviewed the reality of laws and regulations affecting family conditions in light of fair legal standards aimed at achieving sustainable development.
