“Ghirass” Holds Its First Annual Iftar Entitled: We Are Fine As Long As You Are Fine

Ghirass for Society Development held its first annual Iftar, as part of its Ramadan campaign “We Are Fine As Long As You Are Fine,” at the Ramada Plaza-Raouche on Thursday 2-7-2015.

It was attended by the representative of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Ms. Natalie Abboud, the representative of Mr. Ali Fadlallah and members of the spiritual meeting, a representative of Beirut Fire Brigade, Ms. Mayf, a representative of the UNHCR in addition to representatives of local and international associations, municipal and optional councils in Lebanon, as well as social and media figures.

The event included a speech by the Ministry of Social Affairs, delivered by Ms. Abboud. She emphasized the importance of organizations’ contributions to Lebanese society. She also praised Ghirass Association’s efforts and the projects it carries out across Lebanon, as well as the services it offers to women and youth.

In his remarks, Mr. Ziad Taktaq, the executive director of “Ghirass,” thanked the participants for attending the Iftar and discussed the association’s activities and its interest in women and youth. He outlined the association’s objectives and briefly discussed its accomplishments in the three years since its founding, as well as the partnerships it formed with regional, Arab, and worldwide organizations that led to the completion of several projects in various Lebanese areas.

The event featured a speech by Um Saleh, who shared her story of losing her breadwinner, raising her kids, and teaching them until they graduated and attained distinction and high positions. This speech serves as an illustration of the society’s characteristics that “Ghirass” seeks to portray in its work.

At the end of the event, “Ghirass” presented memorial shields to the Ministry of Social Affairs and to organizations it worked with, including the UNHCR, World Vision, and Ms. Umm Saleh.
